Music Scholarships For Students
The Associated Male Choruses of America, Inc. (AMCA) was established in 1924 to promote interest in, the performance of, and appreciation of male chorus music.
The AMCA Scholarship Fund is one of the public service functions of the AMCA. It was instituted to assist promising students of music at the college level and is open to all students meeting the requirements.

The AMCA Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the winners of the Music Scholarships for the 2002-2003 school year. We extend our sincere congratulations to the six recipients. In total 18 applications were qualified for evaluation.(4 other applications were received after the deadline of March 1st and therefore were ineligible to be considered.) AMCA thanks all those candidates who submitted their applications for evaluation.

AMCA Scholarship Winners for the 2002-2003 school year
Winner of the THE LESTER AXDAHL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD and recipient of an $800 AMCA Scholarship is:
- Bryan Blessing, Sponsor - Staples Area Men's Chorus, Second Award (Previous Recipient)
Bryan attends St. John's University and in September 02 will be a Senior.
NOTE: This Lester Axdahl Scholarship Award was established in 1998 to honor and recognize the tremendous contributions made to AMCA by Lester Axdahl. Les faithfully and diligently served AMCA as Treasurer for over 30 years and he served as a Trustee of the Scholarship Fund since the fund's inception in 1980.
The following are each winners of a $700 AMCA Scholarship:
- Christina Rice, Sponsor - Midland Men of Music, Second Award (Previous Recipient)
Christina attends Central Michigan University and in September 02
will be a Sophomore.
- Leah Gordon, Sponsor - Kawartha Male Chorus, Third Award (Previous Recipient)
Leah attends the University of Toronto, Faculty of Music and in September 02 will be a Junior.
- T. Matthew Reichert, Sponsor - Cold Spring Area Maennerchor, First Award
Matt attends St. John's University and in September 02 will be a Sophomore.
- David Buren, Sponsor - Greater Lansing Orpheus Male Chorus, First Award
David will be attending Western Michigan University, School of Music in September 02 - Freshman.
- Tim Westerhaus, Sponsor - Cold Spring Area Maennerchor, First Award
Tim attends the University of St. Thomas and in September 02 will be a Junior.
