Music Scholarships For Students
The Associated Male Choruses of America, Inc. (AMCA) was established in 1924 to promote interest in, the performance of, and appreciation of male chorus music.
The AMCA Scholarship Fund is one of the public service functions of the AMCA. It was instituted to assist promising students of music at the college level and is open to all students meeting the requirements.

AMCA Scholarship Winners for the 2003-2004 school year
Winner of the THE LESTER AXDAHL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD and recipient of an $800 AMCA Scholarship is:
- Timothy Buchholz, Sponsor - Kalamazoo Male Chorus, First Award
Timothy attends Western Michigan University and in September 03 will be a Junior.
NOTE: This Lester Axdahl Scholarship Award was established in 1998 to honor and recognize the tremendous contributions made to AMCA by Lester Axdahl. Les faithfully and diligently served AMCA as Treasurer for over 30 years and he served as a Trustee of the Scholarship Fund since the fund's inception in 1980.
The following are each winners of a $700 AMCA Scholarship:
- Joseph Angelo, Sponsor - Queensmen of Toronto Male Chorus, First Award
Joseph attends the University of Toronto and in September 03 will be a Junior.
- Gavin Bidelman, Sponsor - Lansing Men of Orpheus, First Award
Gavin attends University of Michigan and in September 03 will be a Sophomore.
- Gary Bozigian, Jr, Sponsor - Gentlemen Songsters (Detroit), First Award
Gary attends Wayne State University and in September 03 will be a Sophomore.
- Christina Rice, Sponsor - Midland Men of Music, Third Award (Previous Recipient)
Christina attends Central Michigan University and in September 03 will be a Junior.
- Tim Westerhaus, Sponsor - Cold Spring Area Maennerchor, Second Award (Previous Recipient)
Tim attends the University of St. Thomas and in September 03 will be a Senior.
