The Les Axdahl Winner:
Ms. Kirsten Reierson
Ms. Reierson has completed her Freshman year at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. She started in music at age eight performing in a production of Oliver. Her experiences of working with groups developed a strong satisfaction in being able to help others attain their goals and successes. In addition to her membership in Women's Concert Chorale along with the Symphonic Choir, she is also an active member in the UWEC Gospel Choir and The Navigators, an on-campus ministry.
Her education plans will shift her to Greenville College in the Fall. Here her strong beliefs will help her pursue a major in Christian Contemporary Music. From this, she plans to follow where the Lord leads her, whether it is to perform or to be a music coordinator in a church.
This is Ms. Reierson's first AMCA Scholarship award.

Mr. Chris Goltz
A $1,000 scholarship winner
Mr. Chris Goltz is a Junior at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. He is studying music education. He sings with The Singing Statesmen and Concert Choir. He also sings with a Chancel Choir at a local church in Eau Claire. His musical activities include participation with other singing groups in school and on campus, piano accompaniment and composing whenever he can. When not attending school he is involved in musical theater.
His plans for the future are to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education-Choral. After teaching he plans to enter a Master's program. Eventually a Doctorate is planned and be a conductor at a university.
In his words, music is what he is. His plans and hopes for the future support that view.
This is Mr. Goltz' first AMCA Scholarship award.

A $1,000 scholarship winner
Mr. Mark C. Lundin
Mark C. Lundin is a Senior at The University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire where he pursues a double major in Music and Mass Communication.
He has been singing and touring with The Singing Statesmen and the University Concert Choir since Fall 2002. He works in the Choral Office as the Ensemble Administrative Assistant and is very active in the music department in event planning and promotions.
In addition to his collegiate activities he has been involved in music ministry at the Newman Parish on campus. Since being trained as a music minister in 2002 he has been coordinating and leading music at services.
His goals are to pursue music and public relations. His current experiences will help him in the planning of musical events for a professional organization.
This is Mr. Lundin's first AMCA Scholarship award.

A $1,000 Scholarship Awardee:
Ms. Kimberly Shackleton
Originally from Kearney, Nebraska, Ms. Shackleton is a vocal major at the College of St. Benedict and has studied private voice since 2003 with Dr. Axel Theimer. She has recently performed the title role in Princess Ida and Billy Jo Casta in Oedipus Tex. Ms. Shackleton has had the privilege of performing portions of the Messiah at St. John's Baptist Catholic Church in Savage, Minnesota, and she has also been an active participant in vocal competition, such as NATS Student Auditions, Thursday Musical Young Artist Scholarship and the Schubert Club Scholarship Competition.
Ms. Shackleton began her music training at the age of eight with the Pueri Cantores in Lincoln, Nebraska. Throughout middle school and high school, she performed in numerous state and nation-wide honor choirs. While in high school she studied private voice with Dr. Annabelle Zikmund (University of Nebraska, Kearney). During her sophomore year of high school, she attended the National Catholic Youth Choir, directed by Dr. Axel Theimer at St. John's University.
Upon graduation, Ms. Shackleton hopes to attend graduate school. She would like to pursue a professional career in opera and concert repertoire settings. She would like to thank her family and voice teachers for their support and guidance in her musical endeavors.
