1. What are the requirements for eligibility for a scholarship applicant?
NOTICE: These scholarships are for undergraduate Music Majors!
2. How do I locate a sponsor?
- Look through the basic list of AMCA choruses. AMCA Choruses are not located everywhere. If you are located some distance from a city that has an AMCA chorus and have no personal connections with that city or chorus, securing an AMCA Sponsor may be a difficult task and it is probably better that you search elsewhere for scholarships.
- If you are located in, or located near, or have some familiarity with one of the cities that has an AMCA chorus, call a local contact person to estimate your chances (and possibly to receive an application form) before beginning the application process.
- Please notice that the application process begins with the potential applicant contacting an AMCA chorus for help and sponsorship. The choruses are encouraged to take an active role in helping a student obtain a scholarship if qualifications can be met. Each chorus will have variations in their process so make sure you initiate your contact with them as early as possible.
3. What is the deadline date for application?
- Applications received after March 1 will be automatically "flawed" and, if other qualified candidates are available, the applications received "on time" will receive automatic priority consideration.
- An incomplete application (an application lacking sponsorship, letters of recommendation, or personal letter) is considered "flawed" and will be disqualified! Make sure your letters of recommendation are included with the application or that they are sent to the scholarship chair within the time lines!
4. Can you help me find a scholarship?
5. Is this music scholarship only for male students?
- NO! These scholarships are available to any student that meets the above requirements. There have been several female "winners" of these scholarships. For names and pictures of previous scholarship winners, see the links at the bottom of this page!
6. If I apply, when will I know if I have been chosen as a scholarship recipient?
