NOTICE: These scholarships are for undergraduate Music Majors!

Amount of and number of scholarships may vary each year based upon the funds available. Traditionally there are 6 scholarships of $500 each awarded to the top candidates. In 1998, 1999, 2000 and in 2001 the top-rated scholarship winner was awarded $800 as the recipient of the Axdahl Award ( 1998 - 1999 - 2000 - 2001 - 2002) - 2003) - 2004).

Application deadline is March 1. Applications received after March 1 will not be considered for awards.

Please notice the AMCA Sponsorship necessary for applicants.

A suggested process for AMCA scholarship application:

1. Scroll down this web page, read the information, and follow the hyperlinks to see if you can qualify for an AMCA Music Scholarship.

2. If you think you can qualify for an AMCA Music Scholarship, download (print) or request an official current application form (see below).

3. Contact an AMCA Chorus to receive further information on sponsorship by that chorus (each chorus may function a bit differently but this step is necessary).

4. Contact three people to write reference letters for you.

5. Write your own personal statement highlighting your vocal/choral experiences and plans for your future.

6. Obtain a current transcript of your grades from the educational institution you are attending.

7. Assemble the required AMCA Chorus sponsorship materials, your 3 recommendations (please use current recommendations), your personal statement, your transcript of grades, and a completed official application blank and mail them (regular mail) so they arrive at the Scholarship Chair by the March 1 deadline.
   (Reminder: Mail from the USA to Canada make take a few days longer so start your application process early enough to assure meeting the application deadline!)

Music Students may receive an application form by using one of the methods listed below. (Please note the application deadline is March 1 prior to the applicable school year!)

1. Online: Request a form
   You may Request An Application Form by completing the online form.

   You may send an email message requesting scholarship information to AMCA Scholarship Chair.

   NOTE:
   Scholarship forms will be sent to you via regular mail. Make sure you include your regular mail address.

2. Online: Print An Application Form on your own printer
   Go to the Browser Version of the AMCA Music Scholarship Application Form and print the form. Make sure everything prints on one page (see directions).

3. Regular Mail
   You may send a regular mail request to the AMCA Scholarship Chair. (Please send a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE). Canadian postage is different than US postage!)

   NOTE:
   Scholarship forms will be sent to you via regular mail. Make sure you include your regular mail address with a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE).

• "The AMCA Connection" - Locating a Sponsoring Chorus:

  A student needs to locate a "sponsoring chorus" that is a member of AMCA to qualify for scholarship consideration.

  The list of AMCA Choruses is a good starting place to find a "sponsor chorus". (Suggestion: To make a preliminary evaluation of your chance to locate a sponsoring chorus for your scholarship application, see if you can easily make contact with one of these AMCA choruses. If you are very remote from any of the cities in which they are located, the task of locating a sponsor becomes significantly harder? See, How do I locate a sponsor?)

Additional Music Scholarship Information:

• AMCA Connection (again)
  The "AMCA Connection" requires that a potential scholarship applicant contact an AMCA Chorus for a sponsorship for an application. Without a sponsorship the application is "invalid". AMCA Choruses are not located everywhere so each individual must "weigh" their possibilty of securing a necessary sponsorship based somewhat on geographical location. Use the contact names below to initiate communication to evaluate possibilities. Each chorus establishes it's own policies for sponsorship so this contact is necessary to make.
